BIOGRAPHY:
Patrick Flythe, a 15-year old student from Gahanna, Ohio, attends Columbus Academy and studies piano with Dr. Nicholas Ross, Professor & Department of Music Chair at Otterbein University. Prior to studying with Dr. Ross, Patrick studied with Vera Holczer-Waroquet at the Aurora School of Music. He has performed in several music festivals, competitions, and community outreach performances. In addition, Patrick has participated in numerous master classes with various artists including Arnaldo Cohen (IU), Olga Radosavljevich (CIM), Yaron Kohlberg (CIPC President), Cicilia Yudhe (YSU), Shai Wosner with Orion Weiss (CIPC), Dr. Michael Coonrod, and GRAMMY® Award Winning Angelin Chang (SCU).
Patrick has earned the titles of alternate and honorable mention in the elementary, junior, and senior categories of the Northeast Ohio and Central Ohio Music Teacher’s Association’s Buckeye Auditions. Further, he received 2nd prize in the Great Composers Competition, 3rd prize in the Glory Int’l Piano Competition, and was a semifinalist in the BGSU Dubois Piano Festival and Competition in 2022 and 2023. Patrick was accepted to and attended notable summer programs including Otterbein University’s Summer Music Experience Camp and Interlochen’s High School Piano Intensive. Further, Patrick placed third in the junior division of the New Albany Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.
