BIOGRAPHY:
Hailing from Sugar Land, Texas, Dr. Evan Hines maintains an active career as pianist, educator, and collaborative artist. He has appeared with distinguished artists including Imani Winds, Valerie Coleman, Nancy Zhou, and members of the Cleveland Orchestra, with performances at festivals including Tanglewood Music Festival and the Kent Blossom Music Festival.
Hines is Co-Founder of A Seat at the Piano (ASAP), an online resource dedicated to expanding awareness and performance of a more representative body of piano literature. He has released an album of all flute and piano works by Valerie Coleman with flutist Alexa Still and also performed with the Ann Arbor–based Trio Continuum, which toured throughout the US and Mexico.
He earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from the University of Texas at Austin. His mentors and teachers include Dr. Colette Valentine, Martin Katz, James Howsmon, Philip Highfill, Sanford Margolis, and Alvin Chow. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano at Oberlin Conservatory.
