BIOGRAPHY:
Darrina Johnson is 15 years old and is in the 10th-grade at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. She started lessons at the age of 4 and currently studies with Dr. Lucy DeSa. Darrina has been a prize winner in several competitions including the Omega Psi Phi Talent Contest, AFMC Junior auditions, MTNA State auditions, and the Lois Pickard Competition. Darrina has also enjoyed having the opportunity to join the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra as an orchestral pianist.
Darrina worked with Dr. Melvin Chen during a summer intensive at Interlochen Center for the Arts. She has participated in master classes given by Yakov Kasman, Eun-Hee Park, and Anthony Pattin, as well as a master class with Terrence Wilson, which was sponsored by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Darrina plans to pursue a music major with a concentration in piano.
